| Description: |
Prior to rehabilitation, Villa San Pedro had numerous legal and financial problems and was well-known as a housing eyesore in the area. The Housing Authority acquired the 100-unit property through a bankruptcy sale and conducted substantial rehabilitation, including the addition of a community building that features a Head Start facility. Villa San Pedro was a bold start for the Housing Authority's venture into preserving and upgrading affordable housing, and was soon followed by the more substantial and challenging Poco Way revitalization project in East San Jose. |
