RESIDENT PROGRAMS
The Housing Authority operates a variety of resident programs at its affordable rental housing developments. These programs are offered in partnership with City and County agencies, corporate foundations, fraternal service organizations, service providers, property owners, and volunteers. Programs are funded through contributions from each property as well as grants. This allows our residents to participate in on-site activities free of charge.

Educational Workshops and Classes

A variety of workshops and classes are provided to residents from a number of partnering agencies within the county. Topics such as healthy eating, emergency preparedness, safe exercise for Seniors, parent education, gang awareness, fire prevention, health screening, and more, are provided weekly or monthly to different populations. In addition, every Senior property has a volunteer group of residents responsible for planning and implementing social activities, either monthly or quarterly.

Computer Clubs

Computer Clubs are located at ten Senior housing communities, including 4 public housing sites throughout Santa Clara County. Club members are residents who participate in computer learning activities and meet monthly to share and disseminate information on a variety of technology/Internet-related topics. Each club operates under a standard set of guidelines, collects dues, and maintains its own inventory of supplies and software. They work closely with community volunteers who teach computer skills, mentor the club leaders, and conduct on-site workshops. Each year a Computer Club Social is hosted by one of the clubs and provides an opportunity for members from all the sites to gather together to share experiences, disseminate information, celebrate accomplishments, exhibit projects, and have a good time. The computers are maintained by a public housing resident who receives a part-time salary.
